New Music: Frank Sinatra [Strangers In The Night Reissue]

Frank has been gone for longer than it seems, and time passes much quicker than I’d like, but listening through the remastered re-issue of Sinatra’s seminal Strangers In The Night one is left feeling as if no time has passed at all.

His voice has possessed a timeless quality, able to bring romance and charm to even the flattest of songs. From the rat pack through to his death, one can trace a musical legacy that rivals any other. One of the apex moments of that sixty plus year career was Strangers In The Night and Concord Music Group has done a fine job in assembling a worthy update.

Strangers In The Night, Downtown, Yes Sir, That’s My Baby reveal Ol’ Blue Eyes in some of his finest vocal performances. They have stood the test of time and sadly have now long outlived their creator, but thirty seconds in and one is already reminiscing of the gold old days, with several live cuts of album tracks adding an extra bonus.
