New Music: The Bravery - Stir The Blood
The Bravery pull back the shooting-for-epic guitar driven sound that dominated their second release The Sun & The moon and return to their the synth-pop roots once again dressed in the sweat of New Order emerging from the same club that Interpol partied in the night before.
While I enjoyed a healthy dose of the bulk of what made up their last album, the band’s return to “their roots” is welcomed. While lyrically there is some twist and turns that may leave one scratching their head or a bit creepy, the retro-new wave revival is in full effect and musically displaying some of their better chops to date. With being on the verge of being written off by many, the energy found within the songs is a deserved reprieve.
Lyrics blistering with anger that flow with the dark synth-pop tone of the album present the ability to strike a chord with the listener and hopefully leave them in a position to hit a home run the next time they are up to bat.
