New-ish Music: Kings Of Leon [Only By The Night]
I guess “new-ish” would more appropriately how far behind I am in covering Kings Of Leon’s latest Only By The Night. I’ve left myself questioning if there is even a point as it seems everybody has heard [or at least heard of] them after a momentous 2009.
While always producing solid results album after album, the Followill brothers and their cousin have alway been just on the cusp of mainstream success without ever actually seeing it. Earning fans through the years such as U2’s The Edge and garnering coveted opportunities as a result, the group found a massive audience while “Sex On Fire” and “Use Somebody” dominated radio.
If there ever was a band that has “paid their dues” and are basking in some well-deserved success… Kings Of Leon is it. Only By The Night finds the group reaping the benefits of a more polished disc. “The Southern Strokes” as they have been labeled throughout the years are now a force to be reckoned with.
For those as behind as me, go out and get it!
