October 08 Rehash

Finally, a month with something to talk about.

The Cure - 4:13 Dream (Suretone)
The Cure make a somewhat triumphant and redeeming return. I say redeeming since I seemed to be one of the few who actually liked their last effort (self-titled). The band return sans keyboardist Roger O’Donnell, as a foursome making a return to their hey-day of and tracing catalog influences from Disintegration to Wish. Mr. Smith finds his singing voice once again in a rather up-beat album, often times more rocking then The Cure has been known to be the past couple times out.

Eagles Of Death Metal - Heart On (Downtown Recordings)
Intent on not being taken seriously, it is hard not to take part in the beautiful good ol’ fashion rock n’ roll assembled by the man with the slick backed hair and ’stache (Jesse Hughes) and Josh Homme. Bringing the party more then Jimmy Buffet, on their third album the duo find themselves further caressing their sound. I can only hope they swing through town soon.

Keane - Perfect Symmetry (Interscope)
After some down time, Keane take a bit of a risky move for their third album. Teaming up with notable dance producer Stuart Price, the group spend less time on piano ballads and more on synth-ed up tracks that lend themselves to at times poppy goodness and dance floor ready.

Lady GaGa - The Fame (Interscope)
Lady GaGa is catchy and striking in this dance-filled debut that is set to be as glamorous and famous as its creator presents herself to be. From the catchy single “Just Dance” to gems like “Poker Face”, the album is sure to have a long shelf life with plenty of material to keep the DJ’s busy.

Snow Patrol - A Hundred Million Suns (Geffen)
After the breakthrough of Eyes Open, Snow Patrol has their own big shoes to fill. As an album I myself spun frequently for quite awhile after its release and off and on to this day, I was interested in what they they’d pull together. The result is a genuine effort that presents a huge pop rock effort in the humble notes of Gary Lightbody and company. They seemed to of found a niche in their sound and bring out all the tricks this time around.
