June 08 Rehash
One … step… closer…
Alanis Morissette - Flavors Of Entanglement (Reprise)
Teaming up with Guy Sigsworth has produced one of Alanis’ most impressive albums to date. While her previous efforts since the epic “Jagged Little Pill” have been hit or miss, this album is full of pop charm and dark overtones. As expected with Guy behind the helm, electronics provide the backbone for tracks like the lead-single “Underneath”, while a gritty rock background sets the tone with the albums ominous opener “Citizen Of The Planet”.
Katy Perry - One Of The Boys (Capitol)
A touch of pop, a sprinkle of 80’s, and a little bit of rock are what constitute the main ingredients on this debut album featuring the most inescapable single of the past couple of years. The overall quality varies from track to track, but there is plenty of infectious hooks to make it worth a complete collection and not just an iTunes download.
Ladytron - Velocifero (Astralwerks)
After breaking through with “Witching Hour”, the bar was raised. The group continues their adventure into more fully realized songs, with the standard Ladytron components of lush synthesizer induced backgrounds and at times near mechanical vocals. Another volume in the soundtrack for the digital age.
Weezer - Weezer (Geffen)
“The Red Album” is full of Weezer’s signature sound. While it has been a roller coaster ride for the band over the years, the band’s enigmatic front man is at often times more interesting then the music. A few choice cuts here allow for the band to maintain their place on radio, and buys time as the group seem to be getting back into the swing of things.
