Check It: Garbage
Garbage have long since been one of my favorite bands, so needless to say, this will be a bunch of mushy ooh’s and aah’s about a band that comes from a rich lineage including the likes of early 90’s mega-producer Butch Vig, Shirley Manson from Angelfish and of course Duke Erikson and Steve Marker. They truly are the culmination of studio perfection unleashed in one of the most perfected live shows around.
Sultry pop tunes crafted from to the sound of Shirley’s seductive and often painful heart-felt lyrics, the group created a mega-sensation beginning in 1994 with their first set of albums Garbage and Version 2.0. While saying beautifulgarbage was less then well received, and made only worse but sickness within the band while on tour, the release of their last album in 2005 with Bleed Like Me saw a return to the spotlight, while premiering at a career best of #4 on the Billboard charts.
And that catches us up to present day. While albums always contained buried treasures and greatest hits packages generally don’t do any justice to any bands whole catalog, their newest offering Absolute Garbage is a stock pile of their breakthrough hard hitting singles that remain sing-a-long worthy after many having had well over a decade to simmer. With the inclusion of an additional remix and a newly recorded track, this collection is satisfying and worthy of pickup. They’ve never had a throw away track, and this is not the time now, with their newest track containing an elegance and maintaining the quality they always present.
